Recent Developments...

We are pleased to announce that we have completely eliminated Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) from our small offset presses. IPA is a 100% V.O.C. (Volatile Organic Compound) product and is the major source of pressroom V.O.C. It is highly flammable with a flashpoint below room temperature. Ground ozone is reduced as well as odour levels.

The system also provides automatic ink / water balance for every impression, carrying only the required amount of ink and water demanded by the image on the plate. Ink and paper waste is dramatically reduced. Make ready times and set up sheet usage are kept to a minimum.

The group has also invested in an EcoClean Chemical Recycling System, which allows us to re use up to 80% of the chemical waste involved in the printing process. The system works by filtration method to remove the percentage waste that cannot be recycled and then rejuvenates the balance which is then pumped back into the press. The ‘waste’ is then made ph neutral on-site and disposed of accordingly.

Future Plans...

We are currently in the research stage of transferring over to processless plates which will enable us to produce printing plates completely chemistry free. No hazardous chemicals means a safer work environment for everyone. This will reduce the small amount of waste we produce even further and will eliminate disposal costs associated with these chemicals.
